Set sail to the rhythm of Samba
You won’t miss their orange plastic canoes on the river. They are agile, stable and come from a Czech manufacturer. You can get a completely different view of the river from a paddleboard, which is also available for rent. On the Sázava River itself, you can have your boat delivered for free to 11 boatyards. And not only that! In addition to plastic boats, you can also order off-road scooters to be prepared at the boatyards.
They will lend you all the necessary equipment for free and on top of that they will add in a map of the Sázava River with an overview of all the weirs, including their navigability.
Fleet of vessels
There are several types of vessels to choose from in Samba:
- Samba plastic canoe (2–3 persons) with the possibility of placing a 4th seat for a child
- Baraka inflatable canoe (2 persons)
- Colorado inflatable rafts (4–6 persons)
- kayaks (1 person)
- paddleboards
If you don’t want to pay for boat transport, plan your start and end points between Samba’s 11 boatyards. And don’t forget to return the borrowed barges by 6 pm at the latest, otherwise you’ll pay extra. The boathouses are open daily from June to August, and on weekends in May and September or by phone. So don’t worry about any fines or hidden fees.
A tip for real paddlers: in the low season (October to April) you can only rent a boat for free in Český Šternberk. Additional seats are available for an additional fee.
Worried about seasickness or wondering if you’re too delicate for paddling? In that case, in Český Šternberk, take advantage of the so-called ‘rent-a-boat’ under the castle – you can try the boat for an hour, sail upstream and back again. Believe that the view of Český Šternberk is worth it! You can also rent a kayak or paddleboard for an hour. Or have your one-hour rental brought to Camp Horka.
