A mission for the commander-in-chief and his crew
This route is perfect for little captains – ideal for children aged 3 and up, but even complete beginners in paddling will enjoy it. Two days of leisurely paddling, calm waters, six weirs that are navigable and, above all, safe. One short stretch each day (12 km + 10 km), so there will be plenty of time for breaks, feeding the llamas, hot chocolate with whipped cream, and a swim in the Sázava River.
The trip starts at the Sázavský ostrov camp-ground, where Bisport rents out boats, and ends at the laid-back Čerčanská koupadla camp-ground, from where you can easily return by train or arrange to be picked up. Every stop along the way holds a mission and an important task that the little captain and his crew must complete.
1. Day: Landing on Sázava Island: The Sanctuary of the Two Guardians and the Animal Kingdom
Mission No. 1 – The Expedition Begins
At the Sázavský ostrov camp-ground, the crew prepares to set sail. There is a playground, an obstacle course, an inflatable trampoline, a sandy beach, a swimming pier, and modern facilities. The perfect place for the little captain and his crew to stretch their legs before setting sail.
Task: Make it across the obstacle course without falling, and get the crew and their belongings on board. You’ll get the boats directly from Bisport.
Mission No. 2 – The Sanctuary of St. Prokop and the Gateway to the Game World
After a one-kilometre boat ride, you’ll dock below the weir near the former mill and head off to visit the Sázava Monastery. Two guardians are here to guard the secret. One is in charge of the church with the crypt of St. Prokop, the other one of the monastery with a virtual tour from Kingdom Come.
Task: Find the crypt, discover the wisdom of St. Prokop, and complete the silence badge.
Mission No. 3 – Animal Guardians
Just below the Pyskočely weir, a kingdom full of furry, feathered, and hopping creatures awaits you. Pyzuu Fun Park has llamas, camels, ostriches, a trampoline, and a slide that goes right into the river. Parents can relax on the terrace overlooking the river, with a grill right behind them.
Task: Feed the llama, go down the slide, and order food that’s just right for your crew.
Mission No. 4 – The Port of Ostende and Cookie Heaven
Today’s trip will end at the Ostende campground in Chocerady. Little sailors can get lost in the hedge maze just a short walk from the camp-ground, have fun on the large playground behind the church, or use their captain’s privileges to order breakfast at the hotel restaurant the next day.
Task: Find your way out of the maze, earn yourself some breakfast, and find a cookie as a bonus. This mission continues at Hanka’s Little Shop on the village green. Hanka’s cakes and pastries are on the list of unofficial paddling relics.
2. Day: The Hungry Weir, The Lost City, and Capricious Summer: Deluxe Edition
Mission No. 5 – The Snack with the Most Ketchup
In the morning, the crew is resting, but the captain knows exactly what to do. The snack must be at the U Padyho kiosk above the Hvězdonice weir. The owner indulges almost every whim the children have, and while the captain stuffs himself until he’s about to burst, the crew keeps an eye on the other boats and works out a strategy for navigating the rapids.
Task: Grab a hot dog and check out the strategies of the more experienced crews. (Tip: Boating Navigation – truly priceless.)
Mission No. 6 – Jungle and Rapids Chaos
The weir at Poddubí is the wildest part of this trip. The water speeds up below the weir, the channel narrows, and the vegetation tries to lure the boat off course. But there’s nothing to worry about – it’s the young captain’s first adrenaline-fuelled mission.
Task: Try not to scream out of fear, but really enjoy the ride. Once you’ve gone through, we’ll bet our wooden leg that you’ll shout out loud, “More, more!”
Mission 7 – The Haunted Castle and the Lost City
At the confluence with Dubský Creek, you’ll need to get out of the boat. Take a 300-metre walk to the ruins of Stará Dubá. Down in the valley below the castle, you’ll discover the ruins of the ancient town of Odranec. Silent and forgotten.
Task: Head up to the castle without complaining and find at least three walls.
Mission No. 8 – The Magic of a Capricious Summer
Then stop at Zlenice, where you’ll find a ferry, a retro bathing place, the Baštírna, and castle ruins that look like they’ve been plucked straight from a Josef Lada illustration.
Task: Find the old willow tree, take a photo with the water sprite, and order some hot chocolate with whipped cream for yourself and your crew.
Purpose of the expedition: A First Republic-era port and a secret garage full of treasures
Mission No. 9 – This Is How the Bosses Dock
The Čerčanská koupadla camp-ground is clean, well-maintained, and fully equipped. The perfect place to end the trip. Here you’ll find the Čumenda bistro, a restaurantserving Czech cuisine, a paddleboard rental shop, and a touch of the First Republic at every turn.
Task: Try paddleboarding and order anything from the menu. The crew needs to be properly rewarded.
The train station is 600 metres away—toward Prague, Benešov, Říčany, or back to Sázava. And if you have a ride, there’s a secret bonus mission.
Bonus Mission No. 10 – A Garage Full of Treasures
At the Škoda World Automobile Museum, you’ll find prototypes, race cars, and even a government limousine.
Task: Find the car that looks most like a spaceship.
