Vltava steamboat
Where the Vltava River flows into the Elbe, you will be taken by the Vltava, a restaurant steamboat that has been plying our waters for quite a few years. It is quite unique, as it is one of the last two historic steamers on the Vltava. You’d hardly guess that it’s 85 years old, but after several restorations it’s a nicely preserved ship. Leave your snacks for the trip at home, as there is a café, wine bar, bar and restaurant on board. Tech fans will snort with delight in the engine room, where during the boat trip you can check out the steam engine that powers the ship. It’s a real party!

Get ready, stand by, we’re sailing!
Even a boat trip is a destination and this boat trip starts from Prague’s Rašín Embankment. Reserve a whole day for it, as it takes 14.5 hours to get there and back. It’s just going to be a ride with a capital R! But you definitely won’t be bored. Throughout the cruise you will learn a lot of interesting information from the expert interpretation, you will get acquainted with the operation of this steam colossus, you will sail through several locks and you will have short stopovers in Troja, Roztoky and Kralupy nad Vltavou. You won’t be short of views either! From the deck of the boat you will see the Renaissance Nelahozeves Château, and in good weather you will see the mythical Mount Říp. After docking in Melnik you have 2 hours to explore the town. What to do there?
German bear, wine tasting or Lobkowiczs
You don’t have to go all the way to Moravia for wine. If you want to take in the smell of wine, we recommend a visit to the family-owned Kraus Winery. Their wine shop is located in Palackého Street, in the very centre of Mělník. Here you can not only taste wines from their own production, but also coffee or cheese from local producers.
In the Regional Museum you can learn about the history of the town and the wine tradition in Bohemia. Head underground and see what it’s like under the square on a guided tour. It starts at the tourist information centre. And if you prefer heights to depths, climb the Prague Gate, which houses the café and Galery Ve věži, and you’ll not only be blown away by their pastries and coffee, but also by the way they’re delivered to your table via an original handmade mini elevator. Or how about a visit to the castle? If you’re lucky, you’ll even come across the Prince himself in the courtyard.
After a long voyage, a wine tasting and wandering around the city, did you get hungry? Visit Němý medvěd (Mute bear)and taste the famous local burgers, but also one of the four original beers, which are given a unique character by the hard Mělník water. It just makes you speechless as well!
After two hours it is time to board and sail back to Prague. Enjoy the golden hour from the deck, relax and enjoy the moments when you don’t have to do anything. But if at this point you’re wondering where to go next, try a paddle steamer ride to Slapy.
