Textilians to the North, nudists to the East
Did you know that Lhota is the most common name of a Czech village? There are 349 of them in our country, so you have to admit that not every Lhota is alike. And this Lhota near Brandýs nad Labem will definitely entertain you. Just don’t mix it up in the navigation. Up to 2,500 cars can park among the trees, so you won’t be fighting for space. And while your car is cooling off in the shade, you’ll be warming up on the sandy beaches.
You can choose from all sides of the world. Each offers something different and each has something to offer. The southern beaches are very shaded. Don’t look for services or facilities here, but you’ll enjoy more privacy than on the opposite riverbank.
Swimsuits are too constricting, so you prefer your birthday suit? Then the east beach is the perfect place for you. The local nudist beach is one of the oldest in the Czech Republic. It has its own sanitary facilities and a refreshment stand. So you’ll only have to throw away the fig leaf and throw on a bathing suit when you go home.
Is it quiet on the west side? Depending on how one looks at it In addition to the beach there’s a playground, refreshments, a beach playground and, for that matter, a flyboarding station.
But where it’s really alive is the north beach. The sun beats down from morning till night and you can hide from its scorching heat in the pine forest. You can play miniature golf, table-tennis, teqball, pétanque, the kids will have fun on the playground and you can try the slackline. There are a number of refreshment stands and paddleboard rentals.
Blue-green algae are dirty words in Lhota
Lake Lhota was created by flooding a sand pit, where sand was mined for the construction of the Czech D1 highway and Prague mole. When the miners packed up in 1983, they let the quarry flood with water. A few local enthusiasts started to modify the lake for public use and the present-day Jezero Lhota was eventually created.
You can pay by card at the entrance and at most of the stands (there are 18 different refreshment stations in total). Keep your smartphone locked in the safe deposit boxes and leave your pets at home, or head to another flooded sand pit nearby. There’s more than enough of them. But you can take your trusty bicycle and ride to the nearby monument to Charles VI in Hlavenec. A cycling and walking trail runs along the south side of the lake.
In summer, enjoy stylish cultural experiences under a sky full of stars, and on Saturdays stretch your muscles with paddle yoga. See which asana will tip you over into the water. And by the way, even though the lake has no inflow or outflow, you don’t have to worry about the quality of the blue water here. Thanks to the special, and in our conditions unique, ultrasonic cleaning, no algae has a chance.
