Of course, we are mainly concerned with the summer months here, but such a hardy person goes to the water all year round. For one thing, it’s really healthy, it’s trendy and it looks really cool on socks in winter. And this is doubly true here! If you also belong to the cryophiles and you want your stories to be pretty cool, visit the Sadská lake.
The former sand pit boasts sandy-grassy beaches and a gradual entrance to the water. And from winter to spring, you don’t have to worry about cyanobacteria and other algae that usually turn the surface of our ponds emerald green during the summer. You can find beaches on two sides – in the north-east with a typical pub, and in the south-east, where in the summer you can visit a stall with sausage and beer in a cup. You’ll also find a mobile toy booth, and you can bring your four-legged friend with you.
Sadská is situated in the Elbe plain, just a short distance from the banks of the Elbe River. The lake can be found between the famous Kersko, with Bohumil Hrabal’s cottage, and the famous Hájenka pub and sandy overflow at Písty, one of the last still moving sand dunes. In addition, the two-day Rock of Sadská festival takes place at the lake in August. So stopping here in summer is encouraged.
But before you set off, check the water quality on the Sadská website. The local authorities have the lake water checked once a month and publishes the results on its website. The emerald colour of the water here in summer is no exception.
